POSTER COMPETITION Print E-mail

It is competition time again. Art lovers can get their piece of the action by participating in the Flashpoint Film Festival Poster Competition. The posters are to illustrate a central theme from one of the three Jamaican feature films premiering at the festival this year.

The competition began Thursday, May 1 and runs until Wednesday, May 21. Interested artists can watch the movie trailers online at the festival website (www.flashpointfestival.com) and submit their entries to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Now in its third year, the 2008 Flashpoint Film Festival will now occupy a new home on June 5 – 8 at Fort Charles and the Historic Royal Naval Hospital , Port Royal and takes place from. There will be a separate competition for each film and the winners will have their entries mounted in an exhibition on the festival grounds. 

 
SHORT FILM Print E-mail

Amateur film makers are asked to submit a synopsis of no more than 25 words for a 60 second short film around the theme, When the Earth Quakes. The competition is aimed at commemorating the 1692 Port Royal Earthquake which destroyed most of the former premiere port city of Port Royal.

The competition winner will direct the short film of their synopsis and have it produced by one of the Caribbean's premier film companies, Firefly Films. The film will also premier at the 2008 Flashpoint Film Festival from June 5 – 8, at the Old Naval Hospital and Fort Charles, Port Royal.

The competition is open to the general public. Submission deadline is May 1
